This truck belongs to Michael & Jolyn Biship of Spartanburg , South Carolina. The truck was purchaced from eastern Georgia. The truck was in storage for many years. All original except seat , tires ,and some engine parts. The truck was a subject of dispute (engine problems) between original owner and dealer. Dispute resolved in 1997 when original owner resold the truck to the son of the Ford dealer for original purchase of $1800. The truck was restored in Georgia and purchased by Michael in March 1998.
1958 F-100 Pickup
The new thin horizontal and vertical bar grill was bordered at each side by two encased headlights. The circular parking lamps were located under the headlights. The F-100 pickup was offered in 6-1/2 ft. and 8 ft. sizes and two styles of boxes, the traditional Flareside with wooden floorboards and rear fenders, and the smooth side Styleside (which had an all-steel box). Among the standard features were: A lifeguard steering wheel; safety double-grip door locks; sound deadener on the doors;left hand sun visor;Hi-Dri all-weather ventilation; ash receptacle; dispatch box; 12-volt electrical system; 10 in. clutch; 18-gal.fule tank; front and rear double-acting telescopic shock absorbers; and three-speed manual transmission.

VIN located on rating plate. The first three symbols indicated series: F10 = F 100. The fourth engine: J=223 cid six; K=272 cid V-8. The fifth model year: 8=1958. The sixth symbol indicates assembly plant. A=Atlanta, Ga.; D=Dallas, Texas; E=Mahwah, N.J.; G=Chicago, ILL.; h=Lorain, Ohio; K=Kansas City, Kan.; L=Long Beach, Calif.; N=Norfolk. Va.; P=Twin Cities, Minn.; R=San Jose, Calif.; U=Louisville, Ken. The last six symbols indicate the sequential production number.

(Custom Cab Package) Includes two-tone brown and white woven nylon-saran seat upholstery in a houndstooth pattern; foam rubber padding in seat cushion and back; thermacoustic headlining backed by ½ in. of glass wool insulation; sound deadener on floor and rear cab panel; insulation on front cowl wall and cab; hard board door and cowl side trim panels; armrest on left door; dome light with manual switch; right hand sun visor; illuminated cigar lighter; bright metal grill, headlight assembly, windshield reveal molding, and parking light rims; Custom Cab emblems on each door, and matched locks on both doors.
NOTE: Standard Ford truck colors for 1958 were: Vermilion (red); Midnight blue; Azure blue; Gunmetal gray; Raven black; Colonial white; Meadow green; Seaspray green; Goldenrod yellow; or Prime. Any of the standard colors listed could be combined with Colonial white for a two-tone effect.
