Chet Gray`s truck is a 1951 panal painted red with silver metallic trim. The interior is being done in amed charcoal gray with matching bucket seats. The engine has been upgraded with a 1969 Mustang 302 and C-4 trans. The floor is with carpet and red oak and will have a/c and stereo soon. One of the things to do down the road is to change the front end to a Volare or a Mustang II; still pondering on this one.E-Mail to Chet Gray

1951- F-5
Following its most successful year in the commercial vehicle business since The Great Depression, Ford announced an updated line of Bonus Built models for 1951, characterized by a number of easily recognized revisions. This event also marked the company's return to an annual model change policy for trucks, a practice abandoned at the onset of World War II.
Although a majority of the changes for 1951 were of a cosmetic nature, the various Ford truck chassis were not neglected. New bumpers were fitted to F-l through F-3 series; the brakes revised on both 3/4-ton's; and, a number of engine improvements were made, affecting every model in the line. Foremost was the incorporation of a waterproof ignition system.
Supply shortages developed in a number of critical materials, such as copper, zinc and chromium, as the year progressed due to the expansion of military activity; consequently, the last 1951 model trucks exhibited less brightwork than the first, although there were no "black-out" models as there had been in 1942. Among the year's casualties was the white sidewall tire as few, if any. were seen in dealer showrooms after February.
A V8 powered, 158-inch F-5, it is also equipped with the optional Five Star Extra cab characterized by the following special features: Additional hood side moldings (standard on all C.O.E’s and Big Jobs): chromeplated windshield reveal, vent window frames and division bars, Foam seat pads, new headlining with 1 1/2-inch glass wool insulation, sound deadener on doors, Floor and back of cab. Two-tone seat trim, bright-Finished handle escutchens, dual sun visors, horns, arm rests and door locks; cigar lighter, glovebox lamp, door trim panels, automatic dome light.
NOTE: Colors offered for 1951 were: Alpine blue, Black, Meadow green, Sea island green, Sheridan blue. Silvertone gray and Vermilion
