| A Japanese editor
contacted me and indicated that his magazine, CHOICE,
wished to interview me for an article. During the interviews and the photo sessions, the editor invited me for an elaborate dinner that included lobster sushi. And with a little sake under the belt we began trading stories. One afternoon a genteel Australian had come into my shop and it didn't take long to recognize Paul Hogan, the film star who brought fame to Crocodile Dundee and shrimp on the barbee. "I'm looking for some things for my son," Mr. Hogan said, giving a row of |
putters the once over.
"Mind if I look around?" Of course we were honored with his presence, as we were with all of the entertainment and sports celebrities who frequented our Los Angeles store. Mr. Hogan selected a standard length putter and hit a few putts, then asked, "How much is this putter, mate?" "That's not a putter, mate," I said, grabbing a fifty-inch Long John and handing it to him, "This is a putter!" That is how I became the "Crocodile Dundee of golf." |
